Jersey Shore Hospital names Dr. Lisa Strawser as Radiologist Jersey Shore, PA (September 13, 2008) - Jersey Shore Hospital has recently named Dr. Lisa Strawser to the general radiology department. Strawser, who was born and raised in McAlisterville in Juniata County, earned her associate's degree from Harrisburg Area Community College in nuclear medicine and technology. She then spent nearly seven years at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, where during the last few years, she simultaneously earned her bachelor's degree from Bloomsburg University in Biology. Strawser then attended and graduated from medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pa. Her four-year residency was spent at Geisinger, as was her one-year internship. Strawser's medical career then took her to Evangelical Hospital in Lewisburg, where she worked in general radiology for almost two years. She also closely worked with Dr. Nicholas Fasano, also a new addition to Jersey Shore Hospital's radiology department. One aspect of Jersey Shore Hospital that really excites Strawser is the fact that she is part of the new hospital and radiology department. "It's a great opportunity for a young physician to come into a brand new department," she said. "Also, we have the most up-to-date equipment for a 25 bed hospital that I've seen, which is very impressive." Many say the most interesting feature about Strawser is that she is a female radiologist, which today, is harder to come by. "Radiology used to be good for women with families, but it's so busy nowadays. Women don't really choose this field anymore because it's a daytime job that's non-stop, sometimes until 6 p.m.," said Straswer. But because Straswer had the background in radiology, she felt this career was a good move for her. "I always tell people that I'd still come to work every day if I won the lottery, because I love it so much," she said. Strawser's main duties include interpreting X-rays, CT scans, MRI's and mammograms. "Sometimes I read as many as 125 studies each day," said Strawser. "But our efficient equipment really helps. I also really enjoy the small-town atmosphere and community-hospital feel that Jersey Shore provides." Jersey Shore Hospital is a rural community hospital located in Jersey Shore, Pa, serving residents of Lycoming, Clinton and surrounding counties. Our mission is to provide quality health services with an efficient balance of outpatient care, acute and sub-acute inpatient care, primary care and outreach services.
