Jersey Shore, PA (November 3, 2008) - Jersey Shore Hospital was recently recognized for a 2008 Quality Excellence Award presented by Susquehanna Health in partnership with the Susquehanna Valley Rural Health Partnership.
Jersey Shore Hospital's award was presented as recognition for the hospital's Condition H (help) initiative, which began in September of last year.
Condition H (help) is a safety initiative allowing staff, patients and family members to call for a hospital rapid response team. The rapid response team then evaluates the situation and takes necessary action.
This program was designed as a direct result of a little girl named Josie King who died at one of the best hospitals in the country. King's mother felt that something more could have been done to save her daughter's life, if only the hospital staff and doctors would have listened to her.
By dialing 699 from any Jersey Shore Hospital telephone, a rapid response team is notified and rushes directly to the patient's room. This initiative allows either the patient, or the patient's family, to alert the hospital if problems occur, making the patients and the patient's family a team in the health care effort.
