Jersey Shore, PA (March 16, 2009) - Jersey Shore Hospital's Patient Safety Committee recently recognized two hospital employees for going above and beyond their expected call of duty.
A surprise luncheon was recently held in the Jersey Shore Hospital Board Room to recognize Sarah Streck and Rich Hamlin of the Nutrition and Dining Services Department.
According to Betsy Crossley, these two employees were selected because of their heightened awareness of patients' safety needs, even though they don't work directly with patients.
"Back in May, there was a frantic patient family member looking for the Emergency Room and in need of a wheelchair," said Crossley. "Sarah helped this person get the attention she needed very quickly."
Likewise, Crossley mentioned how Hamlin overheard a person in the registration area in July say that her Dad was not doing well out in his car. "Rich helped the man out of his car and get to the Emergency Room to be treated," she said.
Crossley said that Jersey Shore Hospital is built upon people who care, and Streck and Hamlin definitely demonstrated that action.
