Hospital Joins Pennsylvania Mountain Healthcare Alliance JERSEY SHORE—Jersey Shore Hospital has recently formed a professional partnership with Pennsylvania Mountain Healthcare Alliance (PMHA). PMHA is a group of 19 hospitals throughout Pennsylvania whose mission is to enhance the ability of its member hospitals to provide patient-centered, community-based care, while still maintaining status as an independent, community hospital. All of the PMHA hospitals are located in a rural county and cover much of north and central Pennsylvania. Created in 1996, PMHA is governed by a board comprised of a chief administration and medical officer from each of the member hospitals. In addition to this board, there are four primary committees that make recommendations to the board. They include: Technology Leadership Committee, Clinical Leadership Committee, Operational Leadership Committee, and Financial Leadership Committee. Over the past decade, PMHA initiatives have delivered more than $22 million in value to its member hospitals through areas including supply chain, revenue cycle, and the development of high-speed connectivity for each of the member hospitals. More specifically, benefits of being a part of PMHA include group-purchasing contracts with hospital vendors, physician peer review programs, assistance with physician recruitment, alliance-wide strategic planning, collaborative grant writing, reduced insurance premiums through the creation of self-insured risk pools in the areas of medical malpractice, health and dental insurances, and more. Jersey Shore Hospital President and CEO Carey W. Plummer is excited at the prospect of joining forces with such a strong and community-focused group. “Through our membership with PMHA, Jersey Shore Hospital will continue to strive to provide high quality, cost effective services to the members of our community. “Being backed by such a successful group of hospitals will put positive pressure on us to continue reaching for new heights in medical technology and patient safety,” Plummer said. Other hospitals that make up PMHA include Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, Bradford Regional Medical Center, Brookville Hospital, Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Clarion Hospital, Clearfield Hospital, Elk Regional Health System, Fulton County Medical Center, Indiana Regional Medical Center, JC Blair Memorial Hospital, Laurel Health System, Memorial Hospital, Mount Nittany Medical Center, Nason Hospital, Punxsutawney Area Hospital, Titusville Area Hospital, Tyrone Hospital, and Windber Medical Center.
