Hospital Recognizes 3 Key Leaders

JERSEY SHORE—Three important faces in the Jersey Shore Hospital family were recently honored for their years of dedication and service to both the hospital and community.

Betsy Crossley, vice president of nursing, was honored for 40 years of service to the Jersey Shore Hospital nursing division.

Crossley began her nursing career at Jersey Shore Hospital in 1970. After having spent two years with Williamsport Hospital and the Visiting Nurse’s Association, Crossley decided Jersey Shore Hospital would be her new home.

“Jersey Shore Hospital is a highly appraised facility with a great reputation, and I wanted to be a part of their team,” she said. “Even though it was smaller than where I’d been before, it offered varied opportunities for nursing in that it was more ‘comprehensive nursing.’”

After 40 years of service, Crossley said she looks forward to spending some time with her family—especially her grandson—and taking the time to complete some research on volunteering in a few different fields.

Also recently honored were two Jersey Shore Hospital board members: one past and one current.

William Robert “Bob” Camerer, Jr. was honored for providing countless hours of leadership from 1987 through 2009 as a member of the Jersey Shore Health Care Inc. board, and serving as that board’s chairman from 1987-1996 and again from 2002-2009.

The Jersey Shore Health Care Inc. board serves as the parent holding company for Jersey Shore Medical Associates. Current Chairman Bruce Heggenstaller graciously thanked Camerer for his intuitive direction for over 20 years.

Similarly, Hubert Valencik—past Jersey Shore Hospital Board chair and current board member—was honored for his deeply important role as the board’s chair from 1993 until 2009.

Valencik was recognized by his successor Leroy Keiler, who commented that Valencik was a strong vision for the hospital for nearly two decades.

Valencik is currently serving on the board as a board member.
