Hospital Receives $10,000 Donation for Mammography

JERSEY SHORE—Jersey Shore Hospital recently received a charitable donation of $10,000 from Weis Markets, Inc. for the expansion of the hospital’s charitable mammography program.

The mammography program, in conjunction with funding received from Susan G. Komen for the Cure, provides mammograms and diagnostic/ultrasound imaging for under and uninsured women throughout the area.

The mammograms are typically provided through a mobile mammogram unit that travels to rural or underserved areas, or they can be provided onsite at Jersey Shore Hospital.

The $10,000 was part of 50 separate donations made to local organizations from Weis’ charitable golf tournament.

“We are so fortunate to have this additional funding,” said Cindy Grenninger, director of health education at Jersey Shore Hospital. “This money will help more people in Clinton and Lycoming counties receive the mammograms and follow-up studies that they need.”
