Even if you have experienced a heart attack in the past, changing your lifestyle can reduce the risk of a second attack.
How Our Program Works Our Cardiac Rehab team consists of physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and nutritionists. They are specially trained to facilitate and support the needs of cardiac rehabilitation patients. The result is a comprehensive, hands-on approach that addresses the individual needs of each patient and is closely supervised by the Program Director. During your first visit, your exercise activities may include walking, Nu Step, riding stationary bicycles or strength training. These activities will be on a controlled and supervised schedule that will safely and gradually increase your physical capabilities. The program encourages your participation in developing a specialized plan for your own recovery and care. Along with the exercise program, the team at Jersey Shore Hospital will provide nutritional counseling for your and your family members. We offer suggestions for preparing delicious, low-fat meals that will help you achieve and maintain your ideal weight. We will also provide the education and support needed to create a healthier lifestyle. The Cardiac Rehabilitation program at Jersey Shore Hospital lasts for 12 weeks or 36 sessions. Sessions are completed 3 days per week and total one hour in length.
