A Century of Caring Throughout our century of caring, we have made many additions to the original hospital and added new programs and technology, as needs in the community changed. We are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and we have been designated as a “Critical Access Hospital” by the state of Pennsylvania and the Medicare Program. We are proud to be a founding member of the Susquehanna Valley Rural Health Partnership- established in 2002. The partnership brings together the area’s best resources to ensure patients receive the best care. The New Facility 1st floor: Central Lobby and Registration – JSH’s central registration program is highly regarded by patients for making access to all hospital services simple and less time-consuming. The new central registration/lobby area provides even greater efficiency and comfort for our patients. Emergency Department – Designed to support our growing volume of patients, the new circular designed ER includes private treatment rooms to ensure patient privacy and comfort. Surgical Suites and Same Day Surgery – The new surgical program is greatly needed to handle growing demand and to provide greater patient comfort and newer technologies. Three new operating suites have replaced the two outdated ones in the previous facility. Radiology & Nuclear Medicine – Radiology is the busiest diagnostic center in the hospital and the new facility provides for a state-of-the-art, “horizontal” imaging department, adjacent to Surgery and the ER. The plan included a fixed, large field MRI, Spiral CT, Digital Ultrasound, Bone Density, X-ray, Mammography and Nuclear Medicine suite. Cardiac Stress Testing and Rehabilitation – Our Cardiac Stress and Rehabilitation Services are more convenient for patients and now operate in conjunction with Nuclear Medicine, when special types of stress testing are required. 2nd floor: Inpatient Units – The new Medical-Surgical unit, Critical Care and the Swing-Bed Unit (sub-acute) are adjacent to each other to ensure greater efficiency for nursing and other caregivers. Patient rooms in new areas are private, to ensure patient privacy and the environment created is more conducive to healing. Critical Care is a state-of-the-art unit with central monitoring and the latest in technology to support critically ill patients. Our “Bridges” program has also moved to new quarters. This swing-bed unit is designed to support sub-acute patients in need of longer recovery periods following an illness or surgical procedure. The unit includes an area for practicing activities of daily living and a separate dining area for patients who choose to take their meals out of their rooms. Renovation areas: Consulting Specialty Clinics – Jersey Shore Hospital’s services in the “former hospital” have expanded so much, that we now offer Vascular and Bariatric Clinics in our hospital complex. Instead of having to travel out of the area to receive vascular care or to complete the preparation for gastric bypass surgery, patients are now able to meet with the doctors here at Jersey Shore. Diagnostic Laboratory Services – JSH’s lab has grown into a strong, regional enterprise over the past several years- providing diagnostic testing services to many other facilities in Pennsylvania. This helps to support our patient care programs and the community and a newly renovated lab (set to open in the fall of 2009) will allow for greater expansion and incorporation of new testing modalities and technology. Your Challenge Excellent healthcare is the cornerstone to a community’s quality of life. Help us to ensure another century of caring by making a contribution to our Building Fund. Regardless of size, your gift will help us reach our goal and strengthen the “Circle of Care.” Ways to Support the JSH Capital Campaign Pledge/Gift Form Bequest – You can make provisions in your Will to leave certain assets to the JSH Building Fund and such donations are eligible for certain tax credits, which may be passed on to your heirs. Life Insurance – You can name JSH as a beneficiary of your policy and enjoy tax credits in your lifetime. Named Endowment – In memory of, or in honor of someone special, an endowment can be established that will last in perpetuity. Naming Opportunities – There are several opportunities for naming an area or location in the new facility in honor of or in memory of a loved one. Please contact us for a list of naming opportunities (570) 398-3101.
